Advocates with Streetopia UWS also responded to the crash with a statement, saying that many crashes that happen in Central Park are because of design flaws, including traffic lights that remain on paths despite the fact that they were made for cars, not bikes.
"We are saddened by the crash that happened in the park this morning at 74th and West Drive," Streetopia Director Lisa Orman said. "We look forward to learning more about the cause of the crash and how to prevent crashes like this from happening in the future."
