UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An Upper West Side politician wants to rename a neighborhood block after the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Ginsburg, who died on Friday, is best known for her Brooklyn roots within New York City, but the long-time Supreme Court justice also spent some important years on the Upper West Side of Manhattan attending Columbia Law School.

Ginsburg lived at 404 W. 116th Street while she was enrolled at Columbia, after transferring from Harvard. The legendary figure started at the school in 1958, before graduating a year later, and returning in 1972 as a faculty member.
