UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man is facing charges after luring a woman he met on the train into Riverside Park and raping her, police told Patch.
Anthony Camilo, 26, was arrested in Riverside Park near West 72nd Street early Saturday morning just blocks from where he raped and strangled a 24-year-old woman. The victim and Camilo met on a Brooklyn-bound F train, where Camilo lured her into the park by saying a friend could give her a ride home, police said.
But when they got to Riverside Park, Camilo choked the victim, forced her to the ground and raped her, police said. As the woman screamed for help, Camilo fled the scene. He was arrested as responding officers were canvassing the park, police said. A witness to the assault helped police by providing a detailed description of Camilo.
