Man Mugged In Morningside Heights Subway Station, Police Say

A man was robbed and beaten by a group of four people in the West 116th Street and Broadway station.

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify four men who violently robbed somebody inside a Morningside Heights subway station, police said.

A 26-year-old man was standing inside the West 116th Street and Broadway subway station on Friday night when he was approached by the four unknown men, police said. The group engaged the man in conversation, but then suddenly turned violent, police said.

The group knocked the man to the ground and began punching and kicking him in the head and body, police said. After robbing the man of his coat, boots, necklace, cell phone and wallet, the group fled the station in an unknown direction police said.

The victim suffered a fractured nose, swollen left eye and swollen left ear, police said. He was waked to St. Luke's Hospital for his injuries, police said.
