Man Shot And Killed On The Upper West Side: Police

The incident took place Wednesday night near West 63rd Street and Amsterdam Avenue, according to police.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A 44-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday night on the Upper West Side, according to police.

The incident took place at 70 Amsterdam Avenue, within the Amsterdam Houses near West 63rd Street.

The Amsterdam Houses is a NYCHA funded housing complex made up of 13 buildings with over 1,000 total apartment units.

Police arrived to find the injured victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. The 44-year-old man was rushed to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Police identified the victim as Cedric Bennet, who was a resident of the Upper West Side.
