Man Shot In UWS Public Housing Development, Police Say

The victim is expected to survive his injuries.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man was hospitalized after being shot early Wednesday morning inside an Upper West Side public housing development, an NYPD spokesman said.

The 24-year-old man was shot once in the left leg on the 15th floor of the Stephen Wise Towers building on West 90th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam avenues, an NYPD spokesman said. The building is operated by the New York City Housing Authority.

The shooting victim was taken to St. Luke's hospital and is expected to survive his injuries, an NYPD spokesman said.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing and no arrests have been made, an NYPD spokesman said. The shooting victim has been "extremely uncooperative" with police investigators, an NYPD spokesman said.
