Man Stabbed Brother to Death in Upper West Side Apartment: Police

An NYPD spokesman told Patch the two brothers had a "history of arguing."

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man is facing murder charges after stabbing his brother to death Thursday night in their shared Upper West Side apartment.

Police found Luis Gonzalez, 63, suffering from knife wounds to his torso when they responded to the apartment on West 105th Street between Columbus and Manhattan avenues, police told Patch. Gonzalez was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS, police said.

Francisco Perez, Gonzalez's younger brother and roommate, was arrested at the apartment and has been charged with second-degree murder, police said. A knife was also recovered from the apartment, police said.

An NYPD spokesman told Patch that he doesn't know why Perez, 56, stabbed his brother but said the two have a "history of arguing."

According to an NYPD CompsStat report from October 2 this is the first murder in the 24th precinct this year.
