Man Steals Cash Register After Breaking Into UWS Bar, Police Say
The man broke into the Amsterdam Avenue bar through its front window.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who broke into an Upper West Side bar and swiped a cash register drawer, police said.
The man broke into St. James Gate, an Irish pub located on Amsterdam Avenue and West 81st Street, by forcing open its front window around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, police said. Once inside the business, the man crept behind the bar to a cash register, police said.
While sitting on the bar's floor, the man reached up and ripped the money drawer from the register before fleeing the bar, police said. The drawer contained $600 in cash, police said.

The suspect is described as a partially-bald man with a beard, police said. The NYPD released a photo of the man Tuesday that was taken by bar security cameras (seen above).
