The Meatball Shop Closes Upper West Side Location, Report Says
The chain specializing in a variety of meatballs shut down its location on Amsterdam Avenue between West 81st and 82nd streets.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Upper West Side location of The Meatball Shop — a New York City chain that serves up a variety of meatballs in different sauces — has closed, the West Side Rag first reported.
The restaurant, which was located on Amsterdam Avenue between West 81st and 82nd streets, served its last meatballs on Wednesday, according to the report. The chain decided to close its Upper West Side restaurant because its operations were too costly, a spokesperson said
"Structural changes to the locations interior necessary to enable the restaurant to run were too cost prohibitive to continue operation," a restaurant spokesperson told Patch.
