UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Pet store giant PetSmart will open a retail location on the Upper West Side, becoming the final tenant to occupy a cavernous retail space on Columbus Avenue, according to reports.
PetSmart signed a lease, priced at $200 per square foot, to move into an 1,820-square-foot space in 670 Columbus Ave. — located between West 92nd and 93rd streets — Commercial Observer first reported. Other tenants at 670 Columbus Ave. include Party City, Trader Joe's and a parking garage. The Trader Joe's plans to open in late 2017.
The lease was brokered by real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield, which did not tell Commercial Observer the length of the lease. PetSmart's Upper West Side store will have 66 feet of frontage on Columbus Avenue, making it one of the block's most prominent new retail storefronts.
