Woman Rescued From Ledge Of Upper West Side Building After 2-Hour Standoff, Police Say
The woman threatened to jump from the seven-story building on the corner of West 85th Street and Broadway.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Police talked a woman off the ledge of an Upper West Side building Thursday morning in a standoff that lasted nearly two hours, police told Patch.
A woman who threatened to jump seven stories to the curb from a building on West 85th Street and Amsterdam was taken into custody "without incident," an NYPD spokesman said.
The woman emerged on the ledge around 10 a.m. as police set up inflatable pads on the street and shut down traffic in the vicinity of West 85th Street and Broadway, police told Patch. A police officer was able to speak to her from a nearby window and talk her back inside, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. The woman was described as "emotionally disturbed" in a tweet from the NYPD Special Ops unit.
