Stranger Gives 74-Year-Old Bloody Nose In UWS Subway Attack: Cops

UPPER WEST SIDE, MANHATTAN — A stranger left a 74-year-old man with a bloody nose after attacking him on an uptown 1 train last week, police said.

The man came up to the 74-year-old unprovoked when they were both on a southbound 1 train around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, police said. The attacker punched the man in the face, leaving him bloody and bruised as the train pulled into 72nd Street station, police said.

The stranger walked off the train and fled out to the street, police said.

The 74-year-old was treated by emergency responders at the station.

Police are still looking for the attacker, who they described as a man about 25 to 35 years old, standing 5'8" to 5'9," weighing 170 pounds, with a mustache. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and black pants.
