Teen Sent To Hospital After UWS Mugging, Cops Say

UPPER WEST SIDE, MANHATTAN — A teenager was sent to the hospital on Monday afternoon after he was mugged by a group at the 86th Street station, police said.

The 16-year-old boy was walking down the stairs near Central Park West and West 86th Street to the B and C trains when the three other boys started pulling on his backpack and punching him, police said.

The attackers picked up the teen's iPhone 11, which he had dropped during the mugging, police said. One of the attackers then hit the teen in the back of the head with a closed fist and took off his backpack and jacket.

The three boys ran away on West 86th Street with the phone, jacket and backpack, police said.

The teen was sent to the NY Presbyterian Cornell Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
