Upper West Side Bar To Reopen After 4-Alarm Fire

A portion of the proceeds from Wednesday's re-opening of e's bar will be donated to displace tenants of the building.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An Upper West Side bar will hold a grand reopening Wednesday after being shuttered for months after a 4-alarm fire tore through the building in February.

Erin Bellard and Ethan Hunt — the owners of e's bar — will donate a portion of Wednesday night's proceeds to a fund aiding families displaced by the fire.

"Help us raise money to support the tenants who lost their homes due to the fire Feb. 24th while drinking, singing, easting, playing games and celebrating the re-opening of e's BAR," a flyer for the grand re-opening read.

The re-opening will feature a DJ, "swag bags" and Simple Vodka cocktails. The proceeds from cocktails made with Simple Vodka will be donated to building tenants who lived above the bar at the time of the fire. Bellard and Hunt said that they wanted to host a fundraiser for the fire's victims but couldn't do so until the bar was ready to reopen. In the meantime, the bar's owners have raised more than $12,000 through a GoFundMe campaign.

The fire broke out Feb. 24th on the third floor of 511 Amsterdam Ave. — the building which contains e's bar — around 6 p.m., fire officials told Patch in February.

One non life-threatening injury to a civilian and four non life-threatening injuries to firefighters were reported, an FDNY spokesman told Patch at the time. Dozens of fire units, containing around 170 firefighters, responded to the scene of the fire, the spokesman said.

The fire also affected neighboring 509 Amsterdam Avenue, the location of neighborhood brunch hotspot Jacob's Pickles. Jacob's Pickles has not yet announced when it will reopen. Both businesses suffered water damage as a result of the fire on the floors above.
