Upper West Side Fire: Family Of 4 Sent To Hospital With Minor Injuries

Two children and two adults were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in their Upper West Side building Thursday morning.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A family of four was sent to the hospital Thursday morning after a fire broke out in their Upper West Side building, fire officials told Patch.

The fire erupted in the first floor of 249 W. 61st St., a six-story building between 10th and 11th avenues, around 5:35 a.m., an FDNY spokesman told Patch. Twelve fire units containing 65 firefighting personnel responded to the scene and had the fire under control by 6:19 a.m., the FDNY spokesman said.

During the fire four people, two children and two adults, suffered minor injuries due to smoke inhalation, an FDNY spokesman said. The four people were taken to New York Presbyterian hospital for treatment, fire officials told Patch.

The Fire Marshall's office will investigate the cause of the fire, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.
