Upper West Side Mega-Development To House Cipriani Food Hall
The Cipriani Family will develop a 28,000-square-foot food hall in the Waterline Square development
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Am Upper West Side mega-development has struck a deal with the Cipriani family to build a 28,000-square-foot food hall in one of the three planned towers. General Investment & Development, the builders behind the planned Waterline Square development, announced the deal this week.
The food hall — a "large format culinary experience with multiple food and beverage establishments" — will be located in Two Waterline Square and feature a market, restaurants and fast casual dining options.
"We are creating a dynamic food, beverage, and market destination, where Midtown meets the Upper West Side, with one of the world’s most established and recognized names in dining and hospitality," James Linsley, president of GID Development Group, said in a statement. "Cipriani joining us as a retail partner for Waterline Square further signifies the important evolution of this waterfront neighborhood and will provide future residents and visitors with the ultimate lifestyle experience all in one place."

The Cipriani family's roots in the culinary industry go back to 1931, when Giuseppe Cipriani Sr. opened Harry’s Bar in the Piazza San Marco, Venice. Now the family operates dining establishments in cities such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Mexico City and Dubai.
"Last year GID presented us with a partnership opportunity that is truly distinctive," Giuseppe Cipriani said in a statement. "Our goal is to create a kitchen away from home for residents, as well as a world-class, interesting and fun destination for visitors. It is really exciting to be a part of GID’s innovative vision for this unique and vibrant residential neighborhood."

The Waterline Square development will span nearly five acres along Riverside Boulevard between West 59th and West 61st streets.
