UWS Coronavirus Rates Remain Near Lowest In New York City: Data

One Upper West Side ZIP code has the sixth-lowest rate of percent positive coronavirus tests in all of NYC, according to city data.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Two out of three Upper West Side ZIP codes have seen a slight uptick during the last month in the percentage of positive coronavirus tests, according to city data released on Thursday.

However, the low rates in the neighborhood remain more or less stable.

The data, which includes COVID-19 test results over four weeks up to Oct. 31, shows that positivity rates have risen in 10023 and 10025, but decreased in 10024. The three ZIP codes cover Lincoln Square, the entirety of the Upper West Side, Manhattan Valley, and parts of Morningside Heights.

The highest rate of the three ZIP codes is 10023, which is the smallest of the three UWS ZIP codes, where .88 percent of those tested received positive results in the latest four-week period. The positivity rates in 10024 and 10025 were .64 percent and .72 percent, respectively.

The most recent coronavirus tests show that rates are holding steady on the Upper West Side.

Here's the most recent data on the UWS compared to the four weeks prior.

  • 10023: Most Recent Four Weeks: 68 positive cases (.88 percent positivity rate) / Prior Four Weeks: 41 positive cases (.69 percent positivity rate)
  • 10024: Most Recent Four Weeks: 53 positive cases (.64 percent positivity rate) / Prior Four Weeks: 49 positive cases (.69 percent positivity rate)
  • 10025: Most Recent Four Weeks: 106 positive cases (.72 percent positivity rate) / Prior Four Weeks: 79 positive cases (.62 percent positivity rate)

All three of the Upper West Side ZIP codes positivity rates are among the lowest in the five boroughs. Specifically, 10024's most recent positivity rate of .64 is the fourth-lowest in all of Manhattan, behind only three small ZIP codes in Battery Park and SoHo/Tribecca.

10024 is also the sixth-lowest rate of any NYC ZIP code, according to city data.
