UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Sara Lind, a candidate for City Council on the Upper West Side, is no longer engaging or posting on Twitter after being "trolled relentlessly with slurs, sexual assault & death threats, and anonymous cowards spreading misinformation," the candidate's campaign announced Wednesday.

Lind said she plans to spend the next two months leading up to the Democratic primary election hyper-focused on talking to voters on the ground, "where real conversations happen and real connections are made."

The majority of responses to Lind's final tweet on Wednesday were supportive of the candidate's decision — "So sorry Sara! Those comments are disgusting and unacceptable! I'm so sorry this happened," one Twitter user replied.

Other responses were less supportive of the Upper West Side candidate.

"If you can't handle Twitter you can't handle public office, don't let the door hit ya," a different person replied to the tweet.

Lind's departure from the social media platform also came shortly after her campaign manager, Quinn Mootz, deactivated her account after a volatile exchange between Mootz and Twitter users on Tuesday night.

The tweets have since been deleted but screenshots of messages reportedly written by her show several expletive-laden messages.

Lind did not specify a person or group who has done the trolling, but a countless number of replies to her tweets show a general combination of Upper West Side NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) supporters and advocates of moving homeless residents out of The Lucerne hotel attacking her on the social media platform.

Lind is an attorney, longtime Upper West Side community activist, and Community Board 7 member.
