UWS Democrats Host One Of The First Mayoral Forums Of 2021 Cycle
Confirmed participants as of Tuesday include Comptroller Scott Stringer, Maya Wiley, Council Member Carlos Menchaca, and others.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY ā While the 2020 Election Day in New York City just took place. Attention is now turning to the New York City races in 2021.
Chiefly among them is the race for mayor.
On Thursday, the West Side Democrats are hosting a forum for Democratic mayoral candidates, which will be the first neighborhood-based mayoral forum of the 2021 election cycle.

Here are the candidates that have confirmed their participation as of Tuesday:

- Former Office of Management and Budget Director Shaun Donovan
- Council Member Carlos Menchaca
- Non-profit Executive Dianne Morales
- NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer
- Civil Rights Attorney Maya Wiley
The most prominent candidate not on the list of confirmed participants is Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
The forum will start at 7:30 p.m., and the Upper West Side Democratic group said in a news release it will ask "tough, pointed questions sure to elicit news-making answers following a summer with high community activism."
West Side Democrats was formed in 2020 when the following three prominent Democratic clubs already in the area decided to merge into one group: Community Free Democrats, Ansonia Independent Democrats, Park River Independent Democrats.
The club's political districts are the 67th and 69th Assembly Districts on the Upper West Side.
