Vandals Smashed Windows, Clock Sculpture, Near Lincoln Center: Police

The vandals allegedly threw objects, likely rocks, through the windows of a Brooks Brothers and Lululemon near Lincoln Center.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A Glass-hating vandal — or several glass-hating vandals — went on a smashing spree near Lincoln Center earlier this week, police told Patch. Two windows of stores located near the cultural center and a glass cover of the large clock sculpture in Dante Park were broken on purpose, police said.

The shatterers first struck a Lululemon store located at 1928 Broadway sometime either on Monday or Tuesday, police said. A window of the store was reported broken.

The vandals then moved on to a Brooks Brothers at 1934 Broadway and broke a window there, police said. The criminal report came in to police on Tuesday and the act of vandalism occurred around 4:30 a.m., police said.

The final act of glass-breaking was the most ambitious. A glass cover of "Time Sculpture," a work of public art located in Dante Park and across from the main Lincoln Center campus, was reported broken on Wednesday, police said.

The police are investigating these incidents as criminal mischief and no arrests have been made, police told Patch.
