Woman Walking Dog Fends off Attacker in Riverside Park

The woman was able to fight her attacker off by hitting him in the groin and biting him in the mouth as he tried to kiss her.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Police are searching for a man who attempted to attack a woman walking her dog in Riverside Park.

The assault occurred Friday, Aug. 5 around 5:20 a.m. near West 107 Street. The woman was walking her dog when a man approached her and asked her for the time, police told Patch. Suddenly, the man put the woman in a headlock, and the woman had to hit him in the groin to get him to let go, police said.

But the assault wasn't over. The attacker once again put the woman in a headlock and attempted to kiss her. The woman then bit the man on the lips until he let go and fled, police said.

The man (sketched above) is described as approximately 20-30 years of age, 145-155 pounds with a medium complexion, muscular build, with brown short curly hair and brown eyes. At the time of the attack he was wearing a gray shirt, khaki shorts and white sneakers, police said.
