UTICA, NY — Oneida County History Center will host local author and historian Deidre Sinnott for an author talk and book signing on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Sinnott will discuss her newly released historical fiction novel, “The Loyalist’s Wife: A Novel of the American Revolution.”
Set in 1777 in New York’s Mohawk Valley, “The Loyalist’s Wife” follows tenant farmers Jane and Philip Hopper, a couple divided by the War for Independence. Philip opposes rebellion against the King, while Jane, grieving the loss of her newborn son, finds hope in the revolutionary promise of "the pursuit of happiness."
About the Author
Deidre Sinnott is an independent scholar, filmmaker, social change activist, and author of “The Third Mrs. Galway.” She is recognized for her local historical work, including serving as a consultant and researcher for the National Park Service-funded Ft. Stanwix Underground Railroad History Project. Sinnott also founded Utica’s Abolition History Day and serves on the board of the Oneida County Freedom Trail Commission.
