1. Westchester Medical Center Health Network advances spinal surgery with radiation-free technology (westfaironline.com) — Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Valhalla is now the first pediatric hospital in New York, and the only one of its kind in the Northeast, to offer radiation-free spine navigation for scoliosis and spine surgery. Together with nearby Westchester Medical Center, the WMCHealth network headquartered in Valhalla is using new 7D MRVision technology to improve precision while reducing lifetime cancer risks from imaging, especially for young patients.
2. 2 Stabbed In Violent Melee At Westchester Community College (patch.com) — A stabbing at Westchester Community College in Valhalla sent two people with stab wounds and two suspects with fight-related injuries to local hospitals, though police say there's no ongoing threat to campus. Westchester County Police have recovered a knife, taken two suspects into custody, and are asking anyone with information or video to share tips by phone, email, text, or the WCPD app.
3. RLN US Acquires Sternbach & Rose (insidepublicaccounting.com) — A Valhalla-based accounting firm, Sternbach & Rose, has been acquired by New York City firm RLN US, expanding RLN's tax and advisory footprint in Westchester County. Founders Felecia Sternbach and Ellen Rose say clients will keep working with the same local professionals while gaining access to broader resources, with Rose planning to retire after a transition period.
4. Four drivers hurt in collision on I-84 in the Town of Montgomery (recordonline.com) — One of four drivers injured in a multi-car crash on I-84 in Montgomery was transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. State police say the Middletown driver who allegedly caused the chain-reaction collision showed signs of impairment, was charged with DWI and traffic violations, and is due in Montgomery Town Court in October.
