• Fall Swim Lessons Kick Off Oct. 3 (voorheesville.org) — Families in Voorheesville can now sign up kids for fall Learn-to-Swim and pre-competitive lessons at the high school, running October 3 through November 21. Class sizes are limited, with tiered pricing and family discounts, and registration is required with payment up front and no refunds after the first class.
   

• PHOTOS: Barred owl rescued from trail in Thacher State Park (news10.com) — An injured barred owl was rescued from a trail in John Boyd Thacher State Park, just outside Voorheesville, after a hiker reported it sitting motionless. A park ranger brought the bird to a wildlife rehabilitator, who says it's very thin but still fighting, and park staff are urging visitors to report any injured animals they encounter.
