1 Killed in Nassau House Fire, Cop Car Responding to Scene Involved in Serious Crash: Reports

The fire started around 9 a.m. A civilian in a car that collided with the police car was seriously hurt, report says.

A driver was seriously injured after a crash with a cop car that was responding to a fatal fire in North Massapequa Thursday morning.

News 12 reported that a fire started at a home on North Suffolk Avenue around 9 a.m. Multiple fire departments responded to the scene, and one person inside the home was killed, Newsday reported.

A police car that was responding to the fire crashed into another car at New York Avenue and Broadway in Massapequa, about a mile and a half from the fire. Newsday reported that the driver of the civilian vehicle was seriously injured.

Police are expected to release more details on both the fire and the crash during a press briefing at the crash scene later Thursday.
