100 Firefighters Knock Down 2-Story Fire That Hospitalized 1 Resident: NCFM

SEAFORD, NY — Three people are out of their Seaford home this week after a fire broke out and spread across the first and second floors of the home and left the residence unfit for living, the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said.

According to fire officials, the fire broke out in a two-story private home on Park Avenue at 11:53 p.m. Friday, with the Seaford Fire Department responding and receiving assistance from the Bellmore, Massapequa, Merrick, North Bellmore, North Massapequa and Wantagh departments. In total, there was a team of about 100 firefighters on the scene, officials said, taking about an hour and 45 minutes to put out the fire.

In the aftermath of the fire, one civilian was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation with no other injuries reported, officials said.

The three people living in the home were displaced, the local building department was notified, and the fire marshal’s office began investigating the cause of the fire along with NCPD arson/bomb personnel, officials said.
