2 Charged In Clothing Bin Larceny Spree, Part Of Business Scheme: PD
Jose Castro and Lolita Carbajal stole clothing bins and would sell the items as their own, Nassau police say.

WANTAGH, NY — Two people were arrested for a string of robberies as part of a business scheme since last year in Nassau County, police said.
Jose Castro, 41, and Lolita Carbajal, 44, from the same Amityville address, were charged on Wednesday for larcenies dating back to June 2021, police said.
An 11-month investigation into the larceny of large clothing bins from five locations with a value of approximately $17,000, detectives said.

According to police, Castro and Carbajal had control and access to rebrand the bins as their own, redistribute them to locations and sell donated clothing by the pound for a profit.
Ultimately, detectives located the bins that were reported stolen and identified the actual owners.

Castro and Carbajal were arrested on June 15 without incident at their residence.
Castro is charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and three counts of criminal possession of stolen property.
Carbajal is charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and four counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
They were given appearance tickets for a return to court on June 29.
