Boat Fire, Explosion In Seaford Leaves Woman With Serious Burn Injuries, Fire Marshals Say

Fire marshals said the incident occurred Thursday afternoon at a marina on Beacon Road.

SEAFORD, NY — A woman suffered serious burn injuries after a boat fire and explosion in Seaford on Thursday afternoon, fire marshals said.

Seaford Fire Department responded to a marina on Beacon Road after Nassau County FireCom received 911 calls at 2:02 p.m., Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

A boat had an explosion and firefighters put out the residual fire upon arrival, fire marshals said.

A woman with serious burn injuries was treated and transported by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for evaluation, fire marshals said.

No other injuries were reported, and NCFM Investigators and Nassau County Police Department Arson/Bomb detectives were on scene to investigate the cause of the fire, though it does not appear to be suspicious, fire marshals said.

All firefighting operations were under the command of Chief Lochner of Seaford FD, fire marshals said.
