Teen Driver Pronounced Dead In Wantagh Motorcycle Crash, Passenger In Critical Condition: PD

A Queens teen was pronounced dead Sunday evening after a motorcycle crash in Wantagh, police say.

WANTAGH, NY — A Queens teen was pronounced dead Sunday evening after he and a passenger were thrown from his motorcycle in a crash on the Wantagh State Parkway, police said.

New York State Police said 19-year-old Astoria resident Dario Marsalek was traveling northbound on his black Suzuki motorcycle at about 5:05 p.m. Sunday, just south of Goose Neck Bridge. Marsalek's bike struck the guide rail, throwing him and a passenger from the bike , police said.

Marsalek landed in the roadway while the passenger ended up in a grassy area along the right shoulder of the parkway, police said. Both driver and passenger were taken to a nearby hospital, police said, where Marsalek was pronounced dead while the passenger remains in critical condition. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.
