Annual Dance Clinic Held at Wantagh High School
Varsity dance team members mentor and teach younger students a choreographed number during Jan. 19 event.
There were plenty of kicks, leaps, splits and pirouettes during the Wantagh Schol District's annual Dance Clinic held on Jan. 19.
The Dance Clinic is an all-day event where members of the Wantagh High School varsity dance team mentor and teach younger students a choreographed number. The girls were divided into groups by grade and every grade learned their own routine. They spent the day mastering the moves, getting to know one another, having a pizza lunch and then finally performing their dance on stage in the auditorium for family and friends.
Approximately 140 students participated in the event including first graders and continuing all the way to the senior dance team members. The younger girls listened attentively to the directions of their dance mentors and worked hard to perfect their moves. By the time of the show, each group had learned their dance routines and wowed the audience.

The production ended with a rousing performance by the Varsity Dance Team complete with a high stepping kick line. Dance Team coach and event coordinator, Joan Mirabella exclaimed that she was “so proud of her team.”
The event was such a success not only because of the enthusiasm of the young participants but also because of the dance team members and parents who volunteered their time, efforts and talents.
