Bat To The Head During Softball Fight Leaves Lindenhurst Man Facing Assault Charges, Police Say

A Lindenhurst man is facing assault charges Monday after he hit another man in the head with a metal bat during an argument, police say.

SEAFORD, NY — A Lindenhurst man was arrested and charged with assault Sunday after an argument during a rec league softball game turned violent, police said.

Nassau County police said 32-year-old Brian Polanco hit a 34-year-old man in the head with a metal bat during the argument, which involved both teams and broke out just after 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Creek Park.

In the aftermath of the fight, Polanco was arrested while the man he hit with a bat was taken to the hospital, police said. Polanco is scheduled for arraignment Monday on charges of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
