Berner Middle School Student Qualifies For National Spelling Bee
He will vie for a chance to move on to the national championship in Washington D.C. in May.

Press Release From Berner Middle School: Berner Middle School Geography Bee champion Ken Zheng, an eighth grader, has qualified for the New York State National Geographic Geography Bee. He will take an online exam on March 27.
All Berner students took a preliminary exam in their social studies classes with 21 advancing to the school geography bee afterschool on Jan. 17. Following his victory, Ken took a qualifying exam and scored among the 100 students in New York to earn a spot as state semifinalist. He will vie for a chance to move on to the national championship in Washington, D.C., in May.
“We want to congratulate Ken on his amazing accomplishment, said Dr. Brian Trapani, curriculum associate for social studies, “and we wish him luck in the state competition.”
