The Best Places to Live on Long Island

Niche.com has released its 2016 Best Places to Live rankings.

Los Alamos in New Mexico came in at No. 1 nationally, and New York towns were shut out of the top 100 list. But drilling down to the state level, Long Island towns fared quite well. Six of the top 10 places to live in New York are on Long Island, according to the rankings.

The rankings take into account several key factors of a location, including the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics and access to amenities in an attempt to measure the overall quality of an area, Niche says. Read more about the methodology here.
