Business Q&A: A Charmed Life Boutique

New Seaford shop offers style and charm for less.

Merrick native Jessica Rosner ventured into the business world last November when she opened her very first shop: A Charmed Life Boutique. Located in Seaford, the boutique features a rare collection of jewelry, women's apparel and accessories, household items, baby apparel and more.

Rosner spent some time with Patch reporter Nicole Murphy to talk about her new Seaford business.

Rosner: Last year, I was at a gift show for something entirely different and I saw a lot of cute stuff I liked. That's just who I am - I like to find new, unique things. I decided to put together a store and within two months I opened. The feel of the store is a very rich, classy look for less. It may look expensive, but it's not, and that's what I wanted to do with the store - especially in today's economy. Shoppers can get great stuff that doesn't cost a fortune.

Patch: What are some of the boutique's best selling items?

Rosner: Jewelry, for sure. Everyone loves our jewelry. Scarves always fly out the door too. Candles, picture frames, photo albums and our wine accessories sell a lot also.

Patch: How has your business grown since its inception?

Rosner: It's done really great. We opened during holiday season which was very busy. We have seen a lot of repeat customers

Patch: How has the local community welcomed you and your business?

Rosner: Everybody in the neighborhood is really sweet and has been really great. Some people I knew and some I didn't, but I've made friends with so many from opening the store.

Patch: Do you think growing up nearby in Merrick has contributed to you as a storeowner?

Rosner: Although I feel like Merrick is totally different from Seaford, a lot of people I know from living in Merrick come here and shop. It definitely helps.

Patch: What do you like most about owning your own business?

Rosner: I get a sense of accomplishment here. The girls here are like family to me and my mom's business is right next door. I don't feel like it's work - I come to a great environment. People come here and shop and they're happy. I love buying different items that people get excited about.

Patch: What are your future plans for A Charmed Life Boutique?

Rosner: Well, we are about to launch our online store. We have a lot of stuff from the store that will be online and a lot of new merchandise too. We've had people from all over the country sign up already which is great. We don't have a definite date as of now, but it is almost complete.
