The CHRISTMAS Disgrace!!
I just came back from the National Cemetery in Farmingdale. We went to pay our respects and remembrances to my late Dad (a decorated WWII Marine) and my Mom. IT WAS CLOSED!!! On Christmas morning!!
There was a growing line of cars with many others who were attempting to share their love and remembrances with fathers, mothers, sons, husbands, brothers and others. All lined up only to be be disappointed and disrespected on Christmas morning. I called the number for the cemetery and got a canned recording. All the nearby cemeteries, Pinelawn, St. Charles, et al were all open but the military cemetery was closed.......on CHRISTMAS MORNING!

An absolute disgrace!
We waited about 30 minutes passed the scheduled opening time and then left. As a former Marine myself, I was and still am furious. I thought perhaps that this was due to the government shutdown but found that the VA is fully funded. So this is due apparently to a lack of organization, incompetence or utter disregard for our fallen family and loved ones.

Dad and mom, we still and always will care about you and miss you and we did not and will never forget you. But apparently some in the local government did!
