WANTAGH, NY — Feeding people in Ukraine is on the mind of promoters and performers for a fundraising concert next week at Mulcahy's Pub in Wantagh.

The May 12th show features the Red, White and Blues band, fronted by The Cars co-founder and guitarist Elliot Easton.

A promoter he works with often on the East Coast got Easton connected with the event, which is organized through Long Island Cares.

"My ancestors come from that part of the world," Easton said during a special edition of "Patch AM" on Thursday. "My mother's family is from Belarus. My father's family is from Austria. They came over to escape anti-Semitism."

Easton, who grew up in Massapequa in the 1960s, is appalled by what is happening in Ukraine.

"I don't even know what word to use. It's just animalistic," he said.

So, Easton and his fellow artists will shine the spotlight on music, including many of The Cars' hits.

"That's what I'm asked to do, and I'm happy to do it, wiggle my fingers a little to raise some money," he said.

Tickets are $65, which includes an open bar and buffet. For more details on tickets, click here.
