Driver In Critical Condition After Wantagh State Parkway Crash, Police Say
A driver was left in critical condition Thursday after an accident that closed the Wantagh State Parkway in both directions, police say.
WANTAGH, NY — A motorist is in critical condition Thursday afternoon after a one-car crash that took place at 11:02 a.m. Thursday morning on the Wantagh State Parkway, state police said.
New York State police said the accident took place on the northbound side of the parkway just past Exit W-5, and that the driver was in critical condition. Police did not identify the driver in a conversation just before 1 p.m., and did not provide the make and model of the vehicle.
Police said the Wantagh State Parkway had been closed in both directions between the Southern State Parkway and Sunrise Highway during the investigation. As of 1 p.m., police said the southbound lanes had been reopened while the southbound lanes remained closed. At 1:30, police said the northbound lanes of the highway had also reopened.
