Nassau Police ID 23-Year-Old Man Killed In Alleged DWI Crash
Police say a man was driving while ability impaired when his pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic early Friday.

UPDATE Sunday 9:25 p.m.: Police have identified the man killed in the crash as Vincent C. Ferrara, of Seaford.
WANTAGH, NY — A 23-year-old man is dead and a 22-year-old man is charged with manslaughter following a head-on fatal crash on Long Island early Friday, police said.
According to Nassau police, Matthew Smith, of Seaford, was driving under the influence when his 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic on Jerusalem Avenue in Wantagh at 12:30 a.m.

The pickup truck collided with a 2015 Chrysler sedan. The 23-year-old driver of the Chrysler died from his injuries at a local hospital. Police have not released his name.
Smith was also taken to the hospital. He was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter, driving while impaired, reckless driving and reckless endangerment. Police did not say what substance Smith is alleged to have been under the influence of.

Smith was arraigned Saturday and ordered held on $50,000 bail. He is due back in court on June 10.
