WANTAGH, NY — A Wantagh man is charged with reckless endangerment in connection to a car accident on Tuesday morning.

Police received multiple calls for a possible drunk driver at Campbell Road and Martin Drive in Wantagh, just before 11 a.m.

The driver, Colin Cassidy, 29, was holding an aerosol can of Dust Off to his nose and briefly passed out, detectives said.

A police inspector saw the Nissan Sentra involved in a crash on Wantagh Avenue.

Officers, along with an off-duty Nassau police sergeant, attempted to remove Cassidy from the vehicle. However, he shifted the car into reverse and slammed into several vehicles, police said.

Police were able to stop him through the driver's side window. Cassidy was placed under arrest without further incident.

Three cans of the aerosol were removed from the vehicle, detectives said.

He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment and various driving infractions. He was due for arraignment on Wednesday, according to police.
