Drug Dealer Linked To Numerous Overdoses Arrested: Nassau Police

Police say they recovered multiple drugs from his home and a storage unit after his arrest.

Nassau police arrested a Wantagh man on Saturday for drug sales linked to numerous overdoses, police said.

According to police, detectives from the Long Island Heroin Task Force were conducting a lengthy investigation into several fatal overdoses and numerous community complaints. Police say the investigation led to the arrest of Benji Diskin, 61, of Twin Lane South, on Aug. 11 at 7:40 p.m. He was arrested without incident at a shopping center on Wantagh Avenue.

Police searched Diskin's home and a storage facility in Amityville, and say they recovered heroin, cocaine, crack, Suboxone, Clonazepam, packaging items and an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say the evidence links Diskin to multiple overdoses.

Diskin is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, five counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on Sunday, Aug. 12 in First District Court in Hempstead.
