Drunken Driver Hits Police Vehicle On Sunrise Highway: Cops
BREAKING: Police have arrested a Nassau woman after they say she drunkenly crashed into a marked police cruiser on Sunrise Highway.
WANTAGH, NY — Police have arrested a Massapequa woman after they say she drunkenly crashed into a marked police cruiser on Sunrise Highway in Wantagh.
The officer had been issuing a summons to a motorist in an unrelated incident around 11:50 p.m. Saturday. That's when a 2003 Hyundai driven by Coleen McDermott, 26, hit the officer's vehicle, police said.
The officer later found the Hyundai and pulled over the driver. McDermott's eyes were watery and her breath smelled of alcohol, police said. She was also unable to keep her balance.

Police took McDermott into custody without incident and charged her with DWI with blood alcohol content over .08 percent, DWI and traffic violations. She was expected in court Sunday in Hempstead.
