It takes place on Sept. 9 at the Wantagh LIRR parking lot.

WANTAGH, NY — With volunteer fire departments struggling to keep memberships, a unique recruitment drive will take place next month.
Multiple departments will participate in a Sept. 9 dual, family-friendly event at the Wantagh LIRR parking lot.
Children are encouraged to "Touch a Truck," by exploring and climbing onto the fire vehicles. Fire departments, Emergency Services Volunteer Organizations, and Nassau County’s Fire Marshal’s office will feature emergency and rescue vehicles.
