Freitas Family Become World Champions of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Freitas family and owners of SOCABJJ make history by taking Gold at the IBJJF Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Las Vegas.

Long Island Strong Family Alexandre "Soca" Freitas, Samantha Freitas, and Davi Freitas all win Gold in Las Vegas at the IBJJF World Championships. Soca now a 6X IBJJF 6th degree blackbelt World Champion, Samantha Freitas a brown belt 3X World champion wins "Double GOLD" for a total of 4 Gold medals for their 2 SOCABJJ academy's in Wantagh and Islip Long Island. Mom and Dad are super proud of the powerful performance by their 7 year old son Davi who brought home the Gold in the kids gray belt division.

Professor Alexandre "Soca" Freitas a 6th degree blackbelt has trained and promoted over 54 black belts and over 500 students at his Wantagh and Islip academy's .
Soca began training when he was 15 years old. Soca's older brother, who was was a blue belt at the time, had trained with Carlos Gracie Jr.. After spending many of his days surfing, Soca decided to go to his brother's academy and give jiu-jitsu a try. After that day never wanted stop, and he began to train everyday. Carlos Gracie Jr. awarded Soca his black belt in 1994. Since then Soca has won many prestigious titles such as 5x World BJJ Champion, 2016 Abu Dhabi Pro Legends Light Weigh Champion & elected the best match of the event, 2017 Abu Dhabi Pro Legends Light Weigh Champion, ADCC World champion, Pan-Am champion, and Brazilian National Champion.
Today, Soca has put all of experience to work and has dedicated himself to the successful Soca Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Wantagh Long Island and now in West Islip. His wife Samantha runs the woman's division and has built up a large following. Son Davi can be seen teaching class too in the kids classes.

Long Island has never before seen a family have such victory in the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Soca believes that competition brings out the best in people and encourages all his students from kids to adults in both his Wantagh and Islip schools to compete and be their best. The SOCABJJ academy's are run with a "positive life" philosophy and all members from adults to teens to kids are treated like family.
