Gas Prices Surge Across LI, Jumping 20 Cents Since Last Week: AAA

WANTAGH-SEAFORD, NY — If you think gas prices are higher in recent weeks, it's not your imagination.
The average price on Long Island has been surging, according to AAA Northeast.
A month ago, it was $4.18 per gallon. But the trend has been going in the wrong direction. Last week, it jumped to $4.35 per gallon across the island.

By May 9, the price for regular gasoline soared to $4.55, AAA said.
It makes finding the cheapest gas stations even more imperative. Gasbuddy.com has a list of the lowest prices to pump gas in Wantagh and Seaford.

- In Wantagh, you can get gas for $4.47 at Exxon on 3229 Sunrise Highway.
- It's $4.49 per gallon at 7-Eleven on 3215 Merrick Rd.
- The BP on 1442 Wantagh Ave. is also below average at $4.51.
A check of Seaford gas stations:
- It's $4.37 at Citgo on 3818 Sunrise Highway.
- It's also $4.37 at Evergreen on 3914 Sunrise Highway.
- It's $4.45 per gallon at the Exxon on 3980 Sunrise Highway.
The national average is $4.37, as of May 10, while the state average is $4.57, according to AAA.
