Gaspare Tumminello: We Need to Aid Sandy Victims, Gun Safety, School Funding to Protect Working Families

Tumminello is running for New York State Assembly in the 14th District.

Democrat Gaspare Tumminello is running for New York State Assembly in the 14th District. The district includes Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, and Levittown.

Gaspare Tumminello is running for New York State Assembly in the 14th District, because our property taxes are too high and he is concerned about our future. Gaspare believes there needs to be more passionate representation in the state legislature. He is concerned that those who have been in office for a long time begin to lose sight of grassroots initiatives, and the importance to stay connected to your your constituents and the issues that matter most to them.

Gaspare is a lifelong Nassau County resident who understands how hard it is to stay on Long Island, afford to buy a house and start a family here because he’s living it right now. Gaspare and his wife live in a dual income household, like most families of his generation they are still being saddled down by high mortgage payments, sky rocketing taxes and worry about the expenses that starting a family will bring. At the same time Gaspare can empathize with seniors, like his parents, who are too struggling to stay in their homes because the taxes are too high and the expenses of home ownership are more than their fixed income allows. GaspareTuminello believes we must do something, and says “I think it’s time for a change!”

As a member of the majority in Albany, Gaspare Tumminello will be able to deliver more for his district than his opponent has. The 14th assembly district is a south shore district that has been greatly affected by superstorm Sandy and Gaspare feels we must focus on better ways to rebuild and aide in the recovery for all our residents. “I have walked door to door in south Bellmore and South Merrick and there are still many residents who are not back in their homes and have not gotten enough support to fully rebuild. The people still affected need a better advocate in Albany to work with NY Rising who will not rest until each of them is able to lay their head down at night in their own home and each kid is able to play in their own back yard.” shared Gaspare Tumminello.

“The state house in Albany plays an important part of determining the plan to educate our children. If elected I would fight for fairer funding for our Nassau schools to make sure our communities are getting their fair share.” states Gaspare.

“Additionally, I do think my opponent is out of touch. After reviewing his voting record I found that he voted against pay equity for women and against an increase of the minimum wage, (against) micro stamping for guns and only sponsored one bill in the last few years - the speed camera bill that has turned into just another back door tax here in Nassau due to the exorbitant driver responsibility fees tacked onto the ticket.” says Mr. Tumminello.

Gaspare concludes; “This is not the kind of leadership we need in Albany - it is instead proof of someone who is out of touch with what Long Islanders and Nassau’s South Shore really needs - lower taxes, jobs that pay a decent wage that allows us to afford to live here, aide in the recovery after Sandy, safe streets free from guns and funding for our school districts so working families can be protected from higher taxes.”
