Heartfelt Messages From Wantagh
Wantagh students showed some love to seniors and veterans by crasfting handmade valentines.
WANTAGH, NY — Wantagh School District students recently spent their lunch periods crafting handmade cards that were distributed to veterans and seniors staying in residential facilities throughout Long Island, according to a school district news release.
Valentine’s Day cards were fashioned with heartfelt messages for veterans residing at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center, as well as senior homes across Long Island, by students from Wantagh Middle School’s Business and Eduction Serving Together Club, a community service-oriented club.
Wantagh High School junior and Miss Wantagh second runner-up Angelina Maciak worked with the BEST Club on the project by reaching out to the school community “to make positive affirmation cards to spread cheer among veterans and the elderly,” district officials said.

Forest Lake, Mandalay and Wantagh elementary schools also joined Macaiak in crafting valentines. Because of the harsh February weather, students were excited to take the time during indoor recess to use their creativity to spread messages of kindness and love during the approaching holiday, district officials said.
