SEAFORD, NY — A house fire in Wantagh sent one person to a hospital Wednesday evening.

The Wantagh Fire Department extinguished the blaze on Willoughby Avenue just before 6 p.m.

The home suffered extensive damage, police said, and the Red Cross is working to assist displaced residents.

A female resident, 69, was taken to a hospital with burns to her hand, police said.

Nassau County's Fire Marshal and the Arson Bomb Squad were at the scene. The investigation is continuing.
