ICYMI: Wantagh Principal Publishes First Book

Dr. Randee Bonagura's book aims to help other schools set up Makerspaces for students.

Wantagh Elementary School Principal Dr. Randee Bonagura published a book titled “Embrace Makerspace: A Pocket Guide for Elementary School Administrators.” Published by Rowman & Littlefield, Bonagura’s book describes the considerations and practical strategies administrators should consider upon setting up a Makerspace program in their schools.

Makerspace is an educational initiative which brings students together in a designated location to design and create, equipping students with the 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration and communication.
In writing the book, Bonagura researched nationwide Makerspace pedagogy and based her premise on the school’s experiences with the initiative.

“We are very positive about Makerspace here in Wantagh,” said Bonagura. “The program is about providing enrichment and creative experiences for all students.”
