LONG ISLAND, NY — After two years of COVID-related restrictions, communities throughout Long Island are back in the star-spangled swing with Fourth of July events and fireworks extravaganzas — enough to keep you going "aaahhh" for days!

July 4, 2022 falls on a Monday. Confirm with organizers that events are proceeding as planned. The weather could also impact the schedule.

There are many events planned! Here's just a sample of the holiday weekend activities.

The biggest red, white and blue display is in Jones Beach for the return of the Jovia Financial Credit Union Fireworks Spectacular.

It is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. with an accompaniment of patriotic music.

Free parking will be available starting at 5:30 p.m.

Glen Cove has plenty to offer for the nation's birthday. They'll get back to fireworks for the 4th. It is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. following a concert with rockers Richie Cannata, Liberty DeVitto, and Russ Javors at Morgan Memorial Park. The day starts with a Children's Bike Parade at 9:30 a.m.

Maybe you'd like to combine some baseball with fireworks. The Long Island Ducks have you covered with the colorful show after games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at the Central Islip ballpark.

How about catching races and fireworks? Riverhead Raceway has a full slate of events for the track concluding with fireworks on Saturday. The grandstand opens at 4 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday, Tanger Outlets in Deer Park is hosting a Block Party and Food Truck Extravaganza. There will be family fun and farmer's market vendors as part of the things to do.
