Landlord Strangled Her Tenant With A Bungee Cord: Police

Police say she later returned to the residence and threatened her tenant a second time.

WANTAGH, NY — A Wantagh woman was arrested Friday night after police say she attacked her tenant.

According to police, officers received a call for an assault on Hunt Road in Wantagh at 11:23 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 30-year-old woman who said she had been attacked by her landlord. She said Natalie Lapolosa, 43, had grabbed her from behind and wrapped a bungee cord around her neck, and then punched her repeatedly in the head and face, according to police.

Lapolosa had fled the scene on foot, police said. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A short time later, officers received another call for a disturbance at the same address. The woman said that Lapolosa had returned and was threatening her, according to police.

When officers arrived, Lapolosa refused to leave the home, police said. She eventually left the home, police said, and was placed under arrest.

Lapelosa is charged with third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. She is scheduled to be arraigned on July 6 in First District Court in Hempstead.
